Personal bio

Laura Lo Presti was born and raised in the Florentine countryside, surrounded by the beauty of Tuscany. She is the coordinator of national and European projects focusing on the circular economy, citizens’ rights, and waste and resource management. As an environmental consultant, Laura works with public bodies, the third sector, and schools. In 2018, she co-founded the startup Plastic Free Certification, which expanded her efforts to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices.

A coordinator and activist in the Zero Waste movement since 2019, Laura also serves as a Councilor of the Centro Servizi Volontariato Toscana. She is an environmental blogger, eco-event organizer, and volunteer with local environmental associations focused on natural agriculture, organic food, and ecological education. Currently, she is the director of the Tuscany Environment Foundation.

Project experiences

  • June 2022: The municipality of Capannori obtains the MiZA certification demonstrating a wide range of waste prevention, reuse and recycling measures in place, as well as a dedicated strategy for improvement, extensively involving both the local community and different stakeholders to facilitate the transition to zero waste.
  • June and October 2022: in-depth analysis, dissemination and training in person about the European certification for Italian activists who are already part of the ZWI movement.
  • January-March 2023: Online meetings with ZWI activists to discuss strategies on promoting European certification among Italian municipalities. Meetings were organized in the regions of Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Sicily and Calabria.
